BOXED WARNING: Suicidal Ideation - "STRATTERA increased the risk of suicidal ideation in short-term studies in children or adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)." Patients started on therapy "should be monitored closely for suicidality (suicidal thinking and behavior), clinical worsening, or unusual changes in behavior." Additional warnings cover "Severe Liver Injury" (discontinue if jaundice or lab evidence of liver injury occurs), "Serious Cardiovascular Events" including sudden death in patients with structural cardiac abnormalities, effects on blood pressure and heart rate requiring monitoring, and emergence of new psychotic or manic symptoms; screening for bipolar disorder is advised before starting.
STRATTERA is indicated for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The label notes it should be used as part of "a total treatment program for ADHD that may include other measures (psychological, educational, social)."
