No boxed warning. Contraindicated in patients with "known hypersensitivity to clonidine." The label also warns the drug "may worsen sinus node dysfunction and atrioventricular (AV) block, especially in patients taking other sympatholytic drugs."

"Clonidine hydrochloride tablets are indicated in the treatment of hypertension" and "may be employed alone or concomitantly with other antihypertensive agents" to lower blood pressure.
