Uses and warnings

No boxed warning. Pregabalin is contraindicated in patients with "known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any of its components," which has caused "angioedema" involving the throat, head, and neck that "may be associated with life-threatening respiratory compromise." The label also warns of the class-wide risk that "antiepileptic drugs, including LYRICA, increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior"; dizziness and somnolence that can impair the ability to drive or operate machinery; and that pregabalin is a Schedule V controlled substance with potential for misuse and dependence. Abrupt or rapid discontinuation can precipitate withdrawal symptoms, including seizures in epilepsy patients.

Pregabalin capsules are indicated for the management of: - "Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN)" - "Postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)" - "Fibromyalgia" - As "adjunctive therapy for adult patients with partial onset seizures"
