Uses and warnings

Central Nervous System Adverse Reactions: "Confusion, delirium, hallucinations, disorientation, agitation, seizures, and lethargy" have occurred in elderly patients and those with moderate-to-severe renal impairment; dosage reduction is recommended. Concurrent Gastric Malignancy: Symptom improvement does not exclude gastric cancer presence; evaluate patients with suboptimal response or early relapse. Renal Impairment Warning: QT prolongation risk exists in moderate-to-severe renal impairment patients.

Famotidine tablets treat active duodenal and gastric ulcers, symptomatic nonerosive GERD, and erosive esophagitis in patients 40 kg or greater. In adults, it also treats pathological hypersecretory conditions like Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and reduces duodenal ulcer recurrence risk.
