The imprint "" is a code stamped or printed on the tablet or capsule by the manufacturer, used to identify the drug, its strength and the maker.

Active ingredient

Folic Acid

Uses and warnings

No boxed warning. Key warning: "administration of folic acid alone is improper therapy for pernicious anemia and other megaloblastic anemias in which vitamin B12 is deficient" - doses above 0.1 mg daily may correct the blood picture while neurologic damage from B12 deficiency continues to progress, so B12 deficiency must be excluded before treating with folic acid alone. The label also notes folic acid may antagonize phenytoin's anticonvulsant action.

Folic acid is effective in the treatment of megaloblastic anemias due to a deficiency of folic acid (as may be seen in tropical or nontropical sprue) and in anemias of nutritional origin, pregnancy, infancy, or childhood.
