BOXED WARNING: "Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis treated with antipsychotic drugs are at an increased risk of death," approximately 1.6 to 1.7 times that of placebo; "perphenazine is not approved for the treatment of patients with dementia-related psychosis." Other key warnings cover tardive dyskinesia, described as "potentially irreversible, involuntary, dyskinetic movements," and neuroleptic malignant syndrome, "a potentially fatal symptom complex."

Perphenazine is indicated for use in the treatment of schizophrenia and for the control of severe nausea and vomiting in adults.
