Carvedilol is contraindicated in "bronchial asthma or related bronchospastic conditions," "second- or third-degree AV block," "sick sinus syndrome" (without a pacemaker), "severe bradycardia," cardiogenic shock or decompensated heart failure requiring IV inotropic therapy, and "severe hepatic impairment." Carvedilol tablets are indicated for the treatment of: - "Mild-to-severe chronic heart failure of ischemic or cardiomyopathic origin," usually in addition to diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and digitalis - "Left ventricular dysfunction following myocardial infarction" in clinically stable patients with an ejection fraction ≤40% - "Management of essential hypertension," used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents
